The friends enjoyed their dinner on the warm summer night and talked about Nick's and Ian's experiences in the Middle East, the latest news from Barcelona, their summer plans, and their weekend together. The glances exchanged between Nick and Isabella became increasingly noticeable to everyone except the two involved.

It was past midnight when Ian took the last spoonful of his Flan and stood up with his glass in hand. "Ladies and gentlemen. It has been my pleasure. I have enjoyed the evening tremendously, but now I will turn in. Cheers," he said solemnly.

"I hate to say I told you so," Nick grinned.

After the toast, Pilar looked at Kike. "Amor, I think we should be leaving too. I want to be on the beach early."

Kike nodded and looked at Nick and Isabella. "You guys finish the wine!"

The sounds were bone-chilling, and death always followed. The men knew the sounds too well, but never got accustomed to them. On the contrary, the echoes instantly spiked everyone’s nerves, each time pushing them further into despair.

Then, the sirens fell silent.

On the other hand, he would unquestionably again come face to face with the Nazi thugs. But this time, without having to protect his family or Isabella, he could go on the offensive. And — he would not be alone. Still, could he win this fight? Or would they all perish?
