When Lee Ann Maddux hires Nick Newman to discover what happened to her grandfather, who vanished three decades earlier, the search leads them deep into the untamed world of Venezuela’s Orinoco.

But they aren’t the only ones on the trail. Unbeknownst to them, they have woken old hatred and resentments in someone unscrupulously evil.

What begins as a search for answers becomes a deadly race involving a lost treasure, a ruthless drug lord, and secrets buried where few outsiders dare to venture. And as Nick and Lee Ann face the dangers of the river together, an unexpected attraction begins to grow — one neither of them anticipated.

From the mighty and dangerous Orinoco River to the spectacular nature around some of the world’s oldest mountains, the Tepuy’s, the danger draws them closer. Nick must rely on instinct, courage — and a little luck — to keep them both alive.
